Canadian Nationals 2001
Jamie and David are ready to defend their title.

On Thursday the Canadian championships of figure skating will begin in Winnipeg. In pairs, Jamie and David Pelletier are ready to defend their title. And their chances are excellent, they have had an exceptional season in which they won 3 out of 4 competitions in which they competed in. In the few days in which the Canadian championships have started the pressure looks non existant for them. In three hours a day of practice they are driven to polish the routine which is already very well based. They display great confidence and rightly so, their results speek for them. The won 4 of the competition they took part in this year, Skate Canada, Skate America and the Sears open in Canada, they also came second in a Trophy Lalique in France. One can hardly ask for more. |

Though they don't see the Canadian championships as the big competition of the year they do not take it lightly and acknowledge that they are more than ready. " We are ready. Our coach is very good at preparing us in time. This competition is not a holiday and we are ready and respect those who skate against us, You can never underestimate anyone." |

Skating to Tristan and Isold for their long, Jamie and David agree that the program is marvlous and suits them very well. "It is much more mature than love story, was last year. This year there is much more power and it's more complicated, we aren't the same skaters as last year and this program really fits us for this year. The communication always improves outside as well as on the ice. That has made us a better couple." |

Their ultimate objective this year is a podium finish at the world championships which will take place in Vancouver. SOmething they missed last year. |
