I don't have much to tell you about the mens practices because I basically had my eyes glued to Alexi!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go YAGS GO! Except when my friend Hayley and I tried not to look at Zabolds Vidrei who had chosen to wear SPANDEX pants and tuck his shirt in, that became the running joke of the night but not a very pretty sight. Ok so then the women's short. I like Michelle Kwan's new program, the music's great but she's holding back again. It could just be because it's the first competition and the begining of the season but she has to let her self go and stop being as cautious. Her jumps were beautiful though, great 3lutz/2 toe, 2 axel and she did a great 3 flip. It was great to see her do the flip as opposed to the toe! She had good marks especially since she was the first skater. Then it was Irina's turn and she "let go", she went on the ice and she was enthusiastic and bubbly and flew all over the place. She had fantastic jumps, 3lutz/ 2loop, 2 axel and 3 flip. You could see she was very comfortable out there and with her wonderful spins she deserved to be first. I think the long program between these two will be very exciting. Galina Maniachenko skated next and she was great!!!!!!! I really loved her program and she had a wonderful costume and over all I loved her skate. She did the same jumps as Michelle Kwan but did a 3 toe instead of a loop which isn't considered as difficult but I was still very dissapointed that she didn't get higher marks. She's 4th after the short behind Fumie Suguri who skaed well and landed the same jumps as michelle kwan but I got into Galina's program more and thought her atristry, which I think was better than Suguri's, should have pulled her up into 3rd. Jen is sitting in fifth and I thought she skated well. The Hamilton Spectator said she touched her foot down on her triple "flip" but considering she did a triple LOOP as her solo jump I think that's highly impossible, I don't know if she touched her foot down on the loop because she did it right infront of us but I didn't see anything although others said they did.. Anyways, that aside it looked like she was consentrating more on jumps and the program wasn't as free as it was in the summer but I really love the music! ![]()
Now Jamie and David's skate! I loved it! For me last years programs will always be a treasure but I like this years as well. I don't think you're drawn in right away to the long as you were to love story but I still really like it (as I'm reading over this review after worlds I know the program has really grown over the year and it is truly fabulous!!) They pay so much attention to every little detail, things others would never think about. Their technical difficulty was fab! I loved their lifts and their throws were dead on! The mood isn't as much of a story as love story was but it draws you in and enchants you and they are just great together, you can see it in the gentle way he touches her and the way they look at each other, I could watch them skate together for a lifetime and never get enough (again reading this after worlds and I can see now that the mood is ablosutely spell binding!!) They definately deserved to be in first place and I am soooo happy for them! All the best wishes for the new season!
